Jon Urbanski began working on golf courses over 25 years ago and came to Vicmead in December 2004. His career has enabled him to work on some of the most prestigious golf courses throughout the mid-Atlantic and mid-west regions. Jon has been a golf course superintendent for the last twelve years. He graduated from Moravian College with a B.A. in Accounting and was a letterman in football and baseball. Deciding that his love of game of golf outweighed becoming a CPA, he went on to graduate from the Institute of Applied Agriculture at the University of Maryland with a certificate in Golf Course Management in 1999. He was recruited by Wilmington Country Club (Wilmington, DE) and served one year as an assistant superintendent on both the North Course (Dick Wilson designed) and the top 100-rated South Course (Robert Trent Jones) before being promoted to the position of South Course Superintendent. In 2002, he was hired by the Suburban Club of Baltimore County (A.W. Tillinghast) in Pikesville, Maryland for the position of Golf Course Superintendent. Two years later he was recruited by Bidermann Golf Course in Wilmington, Delaware for the position of Golf Course Grounds Superintendent returning to the state of his youth. Jon currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Association of Golf Course Superintendents and the Delaware State Golf Association Green Section. Away from the golf course industry, Jon volunteers as the Basketball Program Coordinator at Immaculate Heart of Mary School and also coaches CYM and AAU basketball,. Jon has also coached soccer, volleyball, softball and has served Treasurer of the PTO at Richardson Park Learning Center. Jon is married to his wife, Katie, of 13 years and they have a daughter, Alexa, and son, Johnny.
First Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Tim was raised in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania and received his Turfgrass Management Certificate from Rutgers University in 2009. He began his career on the grounds crew in 1998 at Sandy Run Country Club located in Oreland, Pennsylvania. In 2005, Tim was hired as the Assistant-in-Training at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, in Lafayette Hill, PA. In 2009, Tim joined the management team at Oakmont Country Club, the fourth highest rated golf club in America, as their foreman. He joined Vicmead/Bidermann in 2012. When Tim is not working on the course he enjoys fishing, camping, and spending time in the great outdoors.
David received his B.S. degree in Agronomy and Environmental Sciences from Delaware Valley College in the spring of 2012, with a specialization in Turf Management. Dave interned at Fieldstone Golf Club the summers of 2009 and 2011, gaining valuable staff management experience. He also interned in 2010 at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox. He joined Vicmead/Bidermann in 2012. In his spare time, Dave enjoys the game of golf and working on his family’s farm in Pennsville, New Jersey.
Travis hails from Minnesota and graduated from AnokaTechnicalCollege in the spring of 2012. Prior to joining our team, he most recently worked at Oakmont Country Club as an Assistant-in-Training. Travis completed his internship at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey gaining tournament experience during the 2011 Barclays PGA Tournament. He has also worked on the grounds crews at Deer Run Golf Club in Victoria, Minnesota. Travis has volunteered for various tournaments, including the 2011 LPGA Sybase Match Play Championships at Hamilton Farms County Club and the 2012 Senior Players Championship at Fox Chapel Golf Club.
James Allison is a New Castle native, graduating from DelcastleHigh School in 1986 with a degree in Engine Technology. After high school, Jim worked at various rental equipment companies while trying to secure a position on the Pro Bowlers tour. Unfortunately, Jim was sidelined with an injury, so he began a 10-year stint in the furniture industry. In 1998, Jim took a position at Wilmington Country Club as their Assistant Mechanic where he first met Jon Urbanski. In 2000, Jim was hired as the Head Mechanic at Brantwood Golf Course, and in 2002 he returned to Wilmington Country Club to maintain all reel mowers for the USGA Mid Amateur Championship. In 2004, Jim was hired as the Head Mechanic at Laurel Creek Country Club until he accepted his current position as Equipment Manager at Bidermann Golf Course in January of 2005. Jim is an avid golfer and billiards player, and also enjoys attending sporting events and traveling.
Gaudencio, or better known as Lencho, has been employed with the Club since 2008. He was promoted to Foreman during the latter half of 2009. He is originally from Michoacon, Mexico and has been living in Wilmington, DE since 1979. Prior to joining the staff at Bidermann, he had worked at area golf courses including Hercules, Penn Oaks, Concord and Cavaliers.
I grew up in Paulsboro NJ and attended Paulsboro High School graduating in 2004. I am in my second season on the turf crew at Bidermann with previous experience at Pitman Golf Course in Sewell NJ. I graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s degree in History and am currently attending Golf Course Turf Management School at Rutgers (my future goal is to become a Golf Course Superintendent). Employment at Bidermann has allowed me to enjoy the outdoors, while preparing me for a long career in the turf industry. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf and camping.
Molly was born and raised in Wilmington, DE. She graduated from University of Delaware in 2008 with a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising. In addition to working in the Grounds Department, Molly is a member of the Wait Staff at the Bidermann Farmhouse. When she is not working, she enjoys baking, running and is currently training for a half-marathon.
